Soccer Body Painting Ideas and Football Costumes

Are you searching for soccer body painting ideas and a painted football costume? If you have already searched to find a great body design, you may have noticed how many different photo galleries are available out there – both for male and female soccer costume ideas.

So whether you would like to take a look at the best body design ideas simply as a hobby in your spare time, or perhaps you would like to draw a creative soccer art on your body, you will find out some helpful ideas here in this free guide.

Why Body Painting is the New Trend as a Football Cheerleading Outfit?

For decades, it has been a motivational custom to support our favorite team by various means – from cheerleading dances, songs, waving the soccer team flag, or simply shouting supportive messages to them during the game.

So now in the 21st century, where young people are more innovative than ever, a new trend is setting into place: Soccer body painting.

You have already seen the typical old way of wearing the football team costume, when the football fans would like to support their team – especially in big important matches.

Now this new way of wearing a body or face painting art, adds a kick to it. Because it is more creative, more bold, and stands out from the rest of the crowd.

Now depending on how comfortable you are with the idea, you may paint on your skin with no clothes on. Or to dress more modestly, you can wear a white simple underwear and paint on top of it, so it almost looks like it is a part of your own skin.

Female and Male Body Art Ideas for Men and Women

When it comes to clothes, tattoo, and body and face paints, there are usually slightly different styles suitable for men, women, or children. So it is a wise idea to check out different designs based on your age and gender, to find the style that matches you the best.

For younger kids or teenagers, body arts are usually a fun way to celebrate a birthday, or as a part of a costume party. But for adult men and women, body painting is more like an art. A way to express a bold unique side of them through the body.

That is the reason female body paint styles are usually designed to appear more attractive, feminine, and focus on the unique curves of the body. To put it simply, body art designs for women are usually more sexy.

On the other hand, male body styles are focused on delivering a character message – like strength, power, or simply a good sense of humor. Superhero designs are common for men especially (e.g. Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc.)

So hopefully the above mentioned tips helps you find your favorite body and face painting design more easily.…

How to Persuade Youth Players in the USA That Soccer is the Best Sport to Play

Soccer is the most popular sport in almost every country in the world. That is unless you live in the USA where football, baseball and basketball are more popular. As a soccer coach the problem is therefore how to get youth players interested in playing soccer rather than the other sports.

Firstly we need to look at the reasons as to why other sports are more popular than soccer in the USA. One of the main reasons is spectator appeal. Local football, baseball and basketball are televised and promoted in every major city in the US. Young athletes watch this and associate with their heroes. Another reason is the money available in the professional game is much more in the American sports than in soccer. As a result, more young sports players aspire to earn their living with a high income in the American sports.

Not that soccer is a poor mans sport. Wages for soccer players around the world are now on the increase. For example 2 of the best soccer players in the world Christiano Ronaldo and Robinho are reported to be on $ 200, 000 and $ 320,000 per week respectively. David Beckham who plays for LA Galaxy is also high up there with the top soccer player earners. Although the interest in soccer is growing in the US among young sportsmen, the sport can not compete as yet with the publicity, advertising and hype of the American sports.

The question is how to persuade young players in the US that soccer is the best sport to enter. Here are a few good reasons:

Soccer is a sport that any player can play and be successful in. As in football where physique and size is a major factor, in basketball where it is very advantageous to be well over 6 feet tall, any player can be successful in soccer no matter what size or physique a player has. Big and strong players can find positions as defenders, midfielders or forwards. Small players can find positions as forwards and wingers and develop skills to be successful in these positions. Slower players can also find positions, especially in midfield. There is a place for everyone who has the desire.

The involvement in the game is much greater in soccer than it is for other sports. In football there are so many stoppages in the game. Some players like the kickers may only have very limited involvement in the game. In soccer, even if your team does not have the ball, everyone has to hustle back to defend. Even the forwards have to defend from the front. Defenders when not defending have to support the midfield and forwards.

Soccer is very fast paced with almost continuous involvement. Basketball is probably the most similar of the American sports to soccer, the biggest difference being the size of the court to the field.

As well as speed, strength and stamina, skill is of the utmost importance in soccer thus producing an athlete …

How Taekwondo Can Help Football and Ice Hockey Players

Team sports are extremely popular worldwide because of their dynamic game play. But few other team sports are as popular as football and ice hockey. To clarify a common source of confusion by ‘football’ I mean soccer, and I am using the world football simply because the entire world excepting the USA refers to soccer as football. Some have called football the king sport because of the fact that it is simple to understand, it’s great fun and people know about it anywhere you go.

Ice hockey also has great popularity in many nations and it would probably be popular worldwide if it was easier to find ice in the hotter regions of the planet. All jokes aside, ice hockey is a serious team sport loved both by players and fans for its exciting style, elaborated tactics and the great skills needed to be a good hockey player.

As a Taekwondo instructor I have worked a lot with football and ice hockey players. The reason why such professional players would choose also to train in martial arts and especially taekwondo is that it helps their performance in their own sport. Taekwondo (TKD) is a famous type of martial arts mostly dominated by fast and explosive kicking techniques. For this reason, taekwondo training will help footwork, quickness and balance all very important both for football and ice hockey players.

The most important thing that a player can get with TKD training is flexibility and that helps prevent injuries especially knee and foot injuries. Feet and knees are essential for football and hockey alike. Both sports demand agility and often strain the athletes causing terrible injuries. Unfortunately it is common for football players and hockey players to suffer accidents during the game which sometimes prevent them from playing long periods losing time, training and money.

Not all the taekwondo styles are equal; my personal opinion is that a school that focuses on the Olympic style of sparring is the best choice for football players because training is focused on using legs, hips and the whole mid section.

If you are thinking of complementing your football or ice hockey training with taekwondo martial arts training the best thing is to find a good taekwondo school and talk with an instructor.

Because different players have different needs you should ask the instructor two basic questions:

1 How will taekwondo training help me?

2 What kind of taekwondo training do you provide?

For any questions or comments about finding good taekwondo schools don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours,

Markku Parviainen

The Sports and Hobbies of Mozambique

Mozambicans are quite passionate about their sports; with a firm focus on soccer and to a lesser extent other sports. There are lots of opportunities for hobbies and recreational activities, but as these can be quite costly at times you will find most Mozambican's are not able to partake. As with most other facets of this beautiful country, the lack infrastructure combined with the poverty levels have had a profound effect on the development of sports and hobbies through the entire land.

As a result of this, many of the most popular sports are those that do not require much money to play.

Soccer

Soccer, sometimes known as football due to the Portuguese influence, is hugely popular in Mozambique as in other African nations. You will often come across both children and adults having an informal game whenever possible, especially on weekends. The structure for proper club soccer is not as good as in other countries due to infrastructure challenges, but there are still some professional clubs about. There is a lot of exchange between Portugal and Mozambique in soccer terms, with players and teams from each country regularly playing with and against each other.

Athletics

Athletics is a sport that is not a widely practiced as it should be, given the relative ease of getting involved. Mozambican does at times punch above its weight in this field of sport, having won a gold medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics proving that they can compete at the highest level.

Basketball

Unlike most other southern African nations, Basketball is a very popular sport in Mozambique. While being internationally recognized since 1978, the Mozambican national team has yet to win any notable championships. This of course has not dampened the enthusiasm for the sport and it is still quite widespread.

Capoeira

The martial art sport of Capoeira is starting to take off in Mozambique, with the popularity growing at a rapid pace.

Stadiums

Stadiums and sporting facilities in Mozambique are in short supply, with some world class facilities recently being constructed with foreign investment. The outlying areas tend to have little to no facilities, while the soccer clubs seem to attract all the investment. The newest and best stadium is the Estadio do Zimpeto which was opened in 2011 and is able to seat up to 42,000 people. While being touted as a multi-use stadium, it is almost exclusively used for soccer matches.

Hobbies

The types of hobbies available in Mozambique are generally all of the physical, outdoor variety. The more popular hobbies include:

  • Fishing: With a substantial coast line, Mozambique is well known for fishing. This takes the form of both subsistence and recreational fishing. The country is well known for game fishing and is largely unspoiled, making it a firm favorite with both local and international visitors.
  • Watersports: Any sort of sport involving the water, whether it is sailing, diving or even just swimming, is quite popular due to the warm weather and water.
  • Sand boarding: Being quite an easy

Nebraska Football Helmet – A History

Since the 1960's, Nebraska has kept a very consistent football helmet design. They have always had a very conservative design; they have never had a flashy or unusual design, even for a special occasion like a Bowl Game. In 1960, Nebraska had a red helmet with a white stripe and the player's number on the side (eg 22). In 1961, apparently the powers that be felt that even that design was too colorful and action-packed and instead opted for a white helmet with black numbers on the side. This Nebraska football helmet design is about as plain as you can get for a football helmet. In 1966, the numbers changed to red and a red vertical stripe appeared on the helmet for the first time. The white background and red stripe have never left the helmet since then.

The red numbers lasted just one regular season before they were dropped altogether. Rather than have the player's number on the side of the helmet, the letters "NU", made their way to the helmet for the Sugar Bowl game in 1967 and remained for 2 full seasons. During the third season with this helmet design (1969), a "100" decal appeared on the front of the football helmet. It was football-shaped in blue with white numbers outlined in red. The "100" marked the 100 year anniversary of the chartering of University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

From 1970 to 1981, the Cornhuskers kept the exact same design. The helmet had a white background, a red vertical stripe, and the letter "N" replaced "NU". This football helmet looks very much like today's design with one exception. In 1982, the team switched from the basic gray facemask to the red facemask. For almost 30 years, that same exact design has remained. The "N" is about as plain as you can get. It has no serifs and looks like your basic Arial font uppercase "N" that you could type on any word processing program. It probably fits well into the image of the program as a hard-working, Midwestern school, where they like to run the ball up the middle. In many ways it is the antithesis of some of the flashier designs out there at schools like Oregon, Maryland, and Boise State. There is not even a catchy logo like the Texas Longhorn or the Florida State spear. Looking at this football helmet, you can start to see why the cold weather, Rust Belt schools of the Big Ten were quick to admit the Cornhuskers for full conference membership in 2010. …

5 Ways Commissioners Can Increase Fun and Focus in Fantasy Football Leagues

As the Commissioner of your fantasy football league, its your job to make sure people are playing the game fair and competitively, while having fun doing so. There are a couple scenarios that really get to me when doing fantasy and can leave me feeling sour at the end of the season. Firstly, I can not stand when people forget, or just flat out refuse, to login each week and set their starters. Easy wins are easy and to me there is no gratification in that. Another thing that bothers me as a commissioner, mostly because of heart, is seeing people who really focus, do their research, make excellent moves on the waiver wire and just come up short at the end-of-season payout.

Over the years, I've tried to make my leagues as fun as possible for a couple reasons; to attract new and interest players, and to sustain the focus from week to week. I've compiled a small list of things that I do to help keep people interested, which ultimately will keep them logging in from week to week.

1. King of The Hill (KoTH) – Side games are a great way to keep focus for your league players. KoTH is a fun game where league players choose a single game and then predict the winner of that game. So long as the player has chosen correctly, they will move on. The catch is that each player can only pick a team to win one game throughout the season. If the Patriots are playing the Broncos, and I choose the Patriots to win that game, I can not pick the Patriots again all season.

2. Weekly Challenge – This can be a wide range of topics or scenarios, its really up to your creativity as a commissioner. I like to setup challenges that are simple, but have payouts each week. A challenge idea can be as basic as "Which Kicker will score the highest fantasy points this week?" or narrow it down a tad bit and have it be "Which Kicker will kick the most field goals?".

3. Pick 'Em – Another idea for a side game is a Pick' em forum, where players submit their prediction for each games result throughout the season. Each win can be worth 1 point, and have a running total go until the end of the season. You could even choose to do a separate for play-offs as well.

4. Bounties – A great way to keep people focused and having fun is to encourage people to track bounties. A bounty is a select set of instances that can payout money or be just for fun. A bounty can be "QB with the longest touchdown pass" or "TE with the most touchdown's scored". This is different from Weekly Challenges because they are running throughout the season, not just for one week.

5. Credits / Debits – This is for the more aggressive fantasy leagues. It's a method that I like to use …

Three Reason to Wear Football Gloves

Do you play football and need protection for your hands and fingers? Maybe your hands need weather protection or your just need something that will give you a better grip on the ball. Football Gloves is the answer!

There are many reasons that players wear football gloves. Here are three reasons why a player will wear football gloves.

  1. The most important purpose of football gloves is to provide the player with a firm grip on the ball. On a hand off or catching the ball with sweaty hands makes the ball slippery. Running backs and receiver’s gloves may be a bit sticky in the palm area. Basically to have a better grip on the ball.
  2. Gloves also give protection to the hands. On some pass plays, the force of the ball is strong enough to cause abrasions and cuts to the hands. When players on defense or offense are down in the clinches they need protection from helmets, face masks and from their hands getting stepped on from cleats. These gloves are designed to give this added protection.
  3. Players also wear glove for weather protection. When it is raining or snowing, that’s enough cause for a slippery situation between player’s hands and the ball. First, the ball has to come from the center to the quarterback. Second, from the quarterback to the running back or receiver. Gloves keep your hands and finger dry and warms and give them flexibility so players can have a better grip on the ball.

Football gloves come in different styles for certain position. Quarterbacks, receivers, corner and running backs wear regular style gloves. Defensive and offensive of linemen normally wear gloves with the fingertip cut out but thicker padding. These gloves are made by companies like Nike, Reebok and Under Armour. It’s up to you to choose the correct pair that fits your needs.…

The History of Riddell Football Helmets – Protecting Your Noggin Since 1939

Back in 1929, John Tate Riddell started his company armed with a vision of providing better sporting equipment to athletes. And such idea has proven to be very beneficial, not only for JT Riddell but for the players as well, for from this concept of his came forth the country's foremost manufacturer of football headgear.

Removable cleat — the history of Riddell football helmets all began with a removable cleat. Said design was prepared by Riddell back when he was still the Athletic Director and at the same time head of the football coaching staff for a certain high school located in Evanston, Illinois. The year was 1922 when head coach saw the need for developing the current leather-fitted footwear for his team. With the arrival of the rainy season, such condition dictates the necessity of changing cleats and installing a longer mud cleat to adapt with said variable. This process is time consuming, not to mention that the cobbler in-charged of doing such task was also hired by a university ergo not being able to finish all footgear by game time. The invention of removable cleats was openly welcomed and such flamed a string of innovations that led to the groundwork for the history of Riddell football helmets.

Ten years after the formation of the company, Riddell pioneered the fist plastic suspension headgear. This breakthrough caught the attention of the government for it will certainly be to the advantage of the brave men in WW II. This is one of the finest points in the history of Riddell football helmets.

With protection as the main goal, it is hard to believe that helmets, rather than pads, were the last to be accepted in pro football. The former is not even mandatory in football — that is until 1939 when NFL ordered that players wear such protective headgear. Before the dawn of plastic helmets, there was leather. The players may be protected against concussions but not the heat — air can barely circulate inside.

Evolution is inevitable; same applies in the history of Riddell football helmets. RT-2 was the first helmet engineered by the company and sold to the public. Said helmet model was manufactured in 1946, a year after JT Riddell's death. RT-2 was a three-pieced shell using Tenite II with cotton web suspension for the head and neck. Said suspension presents a pocket of air in between the head and the shell of the helmet. Though Riddell was not able to actually see the evolution and expansion of his company, he'll always live in every noggin he has protected, whether it's attached to an amateur or professional football player.

Following RT-2 was RK-4. The latter resembles the shape of RT-2, though it's shell material differs. RK-4 was manufactured utilizing a chemical called Acrilonitrile Butadiene Styrene concocted by US Rubber. The cotton webbing that was present in the RT-2 was substituted by a combo of cotton and nylon. Both models showcased the 3-loop and 6-point regular suspension.

The history …
